Think about those spaces and places you visit so often that when you do, it’s like you’re on cruise control. You get in and out, from point A to point B, without really looking around at the people surrounding you, never mind actually engaging in a conversation.

For writer and comedian Negin Farsad, it was the airport. In a recent essay for Oprah Daily she explains, “See, I’m a business traveler. Fast.” Her regular airport routine included a quick check-in, a stop at a Hudson News—and growing feelings of disconnection.
